JUROR STATEMENT
Thank you, Kalaveshi Arts for Inviting me to jury the 2025 Summer Small Works Juried Exhibition. The quality of the work is excellent and it was a pleasure and an honor to view 116 works from 47 artists!
1st Place:
Personal Reflection by Carla LaFlamme
This artist's work weaves a powerful narrative interlaced with some universal truths. Her design sense is a fresh approach to the interplay of shapes and angles. I found each element worthy of further examination. the artist's unique voice is evident in the exceptional manipulation of concepts and perspectives.
2nd Place:
John and Vivian Mussoorie by Rebecca L Keller
The arresting design and composition o0f this work uniquely and bravely deviates from conventional practice. The more I co9ntemplated this work, the more my wonderment grew. The figures and their placement relative to each other and to the geometric shapes on the left side of the painting gives the work a sense of balance. The use of a dappled and varied background contributed greatly to this painting's sense of atmosphere.
3rd Place:
Plunk by Patricia Carrigan
This warm palette abstract features a wide range of textures, shapes and symbols giving it a sense of playfulness juxtaposed with more serious themes. I enjoyed the artists use of thin and think application of the oil medium and brushstrokes which adds depth and emotion to this wonderful work of art.
